His sire Voltaire jumped internationally under Jos Lansink and Emile Hendrix. Voltaire, is one of the most influential showjumping sires of the present day, and is the result of crossing two outstanding bloodlines: Furioso II and Gotthard. Furioso II produced over 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved stallions of which several are standing at stud in other continents. The full brother of Furioso II is the French stallion Mexico. His son Le Mexico is a familiar name in breeding and frequently appears in the pedigrees of showjumping superstars. The dams sire Gotthard is, now more than 15 years after his death, almost a legend in German sport horse breeding and his name is simply a synonym for the Hannoverian showjumper. Offspring such as Goldika, Goya, Queensway and Genius to name but a few of the best of Gotthard’s top class performing progeny. Gotthard’s strength is continued in his sons and grandsons but also indirectly on the dam side of, for example, Grundstein and Grannus. Solitair was bred out of the keur mare Nigrante, a daughter of the legendary Holsteiner stallion Libero H (Landgraf I). With Jos Lansink, Libero H won an very impressive series of World Cup competitions and Grand Prix, highlight being the victory in the 1994 World Cup finals at 's-Hertogenbosch. His fighter's mentality combined with his technique and incomparable reflexes made this stallion virtually invincible that season. In 1983, Libero H was licensed by the ZfDP in Germany under the name of Achill 81. From this period, there is also the successful showjumping mare Libera ridden by Jos Lansink. Of the small group of Libero H's offspring, numerous are very successful in international showjumping. Iowa, Ikoon, Iris, Coonawarra, Luc and Liberty are some examples. Solitair's dam also produced the international show-jumper Triviant (David Quigly). In his dam's line Solitair carries a large amount of blood via the influential progenitors Abgar xx and Pericles xx after which the line goes back to a full sister of the licensed stallions Nominaal and Sollewijn (Pericles xx). This lineage also produced the licensed stallions Largo (Le Faquin xx), Hilton (Antonio) as well as the Grand Prix jumper Figaro (Leslie Steele).
