ABOUT US

Welcome to the website of Meadow Stud.

Set in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Meadow Stud welcomes clients from all across Britain. Meadow stud is a family run business which combines a DEFRA and BQM approved stud and stallion station with a specialised AI and foaling center which is managed by resident Meadow Equine Practice vets Brendan Paterson BVetMed CertESM MRCVS and Ciaran Paterson BVsc MRCVS. The union between Meadow Stud and Meadow Equine Practice enables the provision of a very unique specialised service, covering all aspects of equine reproduction.

The stud has continually expanded its services and facilities at its current location to accommodate the year on year increase in demand for the services provided. We provide a large range of services at Meadow Stud, including fresh, chilled and frozen A.I, problem breeder investigation, Thoroughbred walk-in preparation, foaling, and stallion training to name but a few. Facilities include A.I / reproduction laboratory, a designated stallion barn and collection area, mare barn, foaling barn, foal care boxes, schooling arena, horse-walker and many spacious paddocks and turn-out pens.

Our resident stallions include Cash Point, Chaos, Romulus, Carousel, Irco Lhee, Landtanzer and Donder. Frozen semen from Pro-Set, Raging Bull Vangelis-S and Libro is also available. As well as taking mares to our resident stallions, a large proportion of our business is taking mares for A.I to non-resident stallions via chilled or frozen semen.

Meadow Stud has continually enjoyed success in breeding quality sport horses and providing British Breeders with stallions that are chosen along continental guidelines in terms of conformation, temperament and performance ability. Numerous horses by Meadow Stud stallions or bred by Meadow Stud have gone on to impress at shows all across Britain, such as

  • the 2008 Futurity Supreme Champion ‘Woodlea Farm Eleanor’ (by Pro-Set)
  • the 2007 Futurity Champion ‘Pucks Glenn’ (by Pro-Set)
  • the 2007 HOYS champion ‘The Ascoteer’ (by Irco Lhee)

Also the quality of Meadow Stud stallions has been recognised abroad, with several of them being approved on the continent. In 2009 Vangelis-S received the ‘thumbs-up’ from the BWP (Belgian Warmblood Sociey) and will therefore also be available to continental breeders.

The team at Meadow Stud takes great pride into being part of British Breeding and is actively encouraging breeders and buyers to support the British Breeding scheme.
